Jobs · Join CROW

Ride with us, decide with us.

CROW is not an ordinary courier service, and a job with us is not an ordinary job. Please read this page to the end before you apply. It explains how we work, what we expect and what you can expect from us. The application is at the very bottom.

What is open right now

There is no advertised position right now. We still read open applications, above all for courier shifts. Read the page to the bottom and apply if it fits you.

Cooperative working, not a boss's office

Run as a cooperative

There is no management floor at CROW. Whatever affects everyone is decided at the plenary. Day-to-day work sits with working groups, for example dispatch, finance, customers or the warehouse. Roles are taken on by whoever can and wants to, and together we can hand them to someone else again.

You help run the business

Working with us means being responsible for more than your own shift. That means coming to the plenary, picking up tasks when it gets tight for someone else, and not just voicing your ideas but taking them on. A lot of what CROW is today started exactly like that.

Shifts and working time

We plan shifts by availability. Paid time is active working time: from the first pickup to the last drop, with longer breaks taken out. You tell dispatch yourself when you start and finish, over the radio or by messenger.

A slow start

The first three months are a probation period, for both sides. You get a fixed contact person, ride in tandem at first, and after the first and second month there is a feedback talk. At the end of the third you talk about whether you join properly. There are no stupid questions here.

Contract and pay

Depending on how you join, you work employed or freelance. We talk openly about pay and contracts in the first conversation. We deliberately do not put a figure here, because a figure on a website is quickly read as a promise.

Our tools

Tours run through our dispatch software, with photo proof of delivery. We talk over the radio and by messenger app, and shifts, hours, equipment and repairs live in our internal wiki. You get access on your first day.

What you should bring

Not everything has to be in place on day one. But these points are the basis a shift cannot work without:

  • Strength and weather. Our bikes carry up to 80 kg, up to 250 kg with a trailer. You ride in rain, cold, heat and wind, and you know how to prepare for it.
  • Reliability. Being on time, keeping your word and saying early when something goes wrong. Reliability is what our customers actually buy from us.
  • Clear communication. Short and clear on the radio, honest with dispatch, friendly and professional at the door. Conflicts with customers are sorted out internally, not on site.
  • A smartphone with data and a camera. Jobs, time stamps and proof of delivery all run over the phone. Plus a charged power bank with a cable.
  • Gear. A helmet (required with us), lights, rain protection for you and the goods, a patch kit, tyre levers and a pump, something to write with. Your own cargo bike is welcome but not required: cooperative bikes are available for a small fee per working hour.
  • Work permit and language. You are allowed to work in Germany and are comfortable communicating in German or English.
  • Willing to learn. We practise load securing in our own workshops. Anyone riding lab tours gets instruction for transport under UN3373 and signs a confidentiality declaration.

People, not job profiles

  • Above all couriers who like riding cargo bikes and know Berlin, or want to get to know it.
  • Also people with experience in dispatch, warehousing and shipping, bike repair, bookkeeping or customer contact. Almost everyone here rides, and almost everyone does something else too.
  • People who want to take responsibility without needing someone above them for it.
  • There is no room here for racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia. We want to be a place where different people like to work.

If you have read this far

Apply by email using our template. It asks for everything we need to know for a first conversation, so nobody has to ask five times.

We only handle applications sent to apply@crowberlin.de. Applications sent to other addresses, over Instagram or to dispatch will usually not get an answer.
